Things To Do

Santa Pola has a lot to offer, and Santa Pola Apartments are situated in the heart of the city. The former fishing village is located on the Costa Blanca, only a 15 minutes drive south of Alicante airport.  The city offers multiple restaurantes, tourist attractions and experiences, minutes away from our building. These are some of our favourite attractions:

Santa Pola Promenade

The promenade in Santa Pola is only a 3 minutes walk from our building. There are multiple restaurants here, as well as different companies offering activities like jet ski, jet boat, kayaking paddling, parasailing, scuba diving, boat- and bike rentals. 

There are also a lot of tourist boats leaving from the promenade. These will take you to the Tabarca Island, which you can read more about further down.

Gran Playa Beach

The Gran Playa Beach is only 50 meters away from Santa Pola Apartments. It is a popular tourist beach on Spain’s southern Costa Blanca, with 4 km of fine sand and crystalline water.

The beach also offers different water activities, like windsurfing and stand up paddling. The children's favourite is mostly the inflatable waterpark, with trampolines and waterslides.

Tabarca Island

Tabarca Island is a small island about 20 minutes by boat from Santa Pola. It was previously used as a hideout for pirates, before it was used to store away Spain's most dangerous prisoners. 

Today it is a major tourist attraction many people visit each year. There are multiple restaurants and bars, as well as different places to swim and snorkel. The island is known for its stunning undersea life, and has beautiful corals and fishes to discover. 

Alicante City

Alicante is located around 19 km from Santa Pola, on the Costa Blanca. Here you will find a selection of tapas restaurants, shopping, nightlife and beautiful beaches. No matter where you are in Alicante, you can always see the castle of Santa Barbara. This is a great attraction you have to see when visiting the city.

 

Alicante is an important port city and was founded 324 BC. The city has over 331 000 inhabitants, and its main industry is tourism, wine production and export of olive oil and fruit.

Rio Safari

Rio Safari is a zoo with hundreds of different animals from all corners of the world. The zoo is located 4 km from Santa Pola, and offers picnic areas, restaurants and in the summer, an aquatic park. You can also check out their go-kart tracks and trampolines in the Rio Safari Elche plaza.

Pola Park

Pola Park is a theme park of 24,000 sqm with 30 attractions for all age groups, such as roller coaster, pirate boat, mini golf, go-karting and flying chairs.

The Santa Pola Fortress

The fortress is located in the center on Plaza de la Glorieta, was built in the 16th century and was intended to protect local seafarers from pirate attacks. Today it is used for cultural and religious events and also houses the maritime museum Museo del Mar.

The Saltworks

To the west of Santa Pola is the Salinas de Santa Pola, a protected nature reserve and wildlife conservation area. Salt has been extracted here in the 25 square kilometer area since the end of the 1400s. In the Museo de la Sal you can learn about salt extraction and its history. Don´t forget to look for the pink flamingos that are often found in large herds in the area.

Renting Bikes

Cycling is popular in Santa Pola and there are a lot of marked bike paths in the area, you can get great nature experiences from the bike seat. There are several places one can rent a bike, and one of the places that are close to the Santa Pola Apartments is Gran Playa Rent a Bike, about 100 m down the street. They also offer electric bikes.

The Lighthouse in Santa Pola

The view from Faro Cabo de Santa Pola is formidable. It is located on a hill between Gran Alacant and Santa Pola. The place has a view ramp overlooking the Isla de Tabarca and far off the coast both north and south, including Alicante and Torrevieja. The terrain around Faro Cabo is ideal for walking, jogging or cycling. The area is classified as a nature reserve and is called Clot de Galvany. The paths feel endless, and are suitable for everyone.

Golf

A lot of people travel to Costa Blanca to play golf. The area have many golf courses, the nearest golf club is Club De Golf El Plantío which is a 25 minutes drive from the apartments.
